Suggestions for future releases

  • Add the ability to see the terminal window and input text commands directly into the terminal window instead of going Menu>input>”texthere”>enter. very annoying most of the time, aswell, allow the Blackberry bold ball to scroll and click to select mproper at omniglobe dot com (read the documentation: Menu>type is exactly what you are asking for)
  • Add a way to import an existing SSH secret key. The user could SSH to a server which has the key and type “cat id_dsa_blah” to get the key on the screen... then choose something from the menu which scans the screen (or the last 100 lines of input from the host) for a “—–BEGIN DSA PRIVATE KEY—–” block, and import that. -John Simpson, jms1 at jms1 dot net

* Add a way to select the id_dsa or id_rsa key from file (memory card)

  • Add the ability to tunnel through a SSH port redirection. That is, ssh to a gateway machine to establish a tunnel, then ssh through the tunnel to another machine beyond the gateway. - Brian Johnson, bjj4 at charter dot net
  • Integrated S/KEY support would be a major win for me. Code is available from http://fatsquirrel.org/software/vejotp/, haven’t checked license compatibility though. dan at telent.net
  • SCP/SFTP support
  • zlib compression (vote up for skey/otp but vote down for ‘import’ private key and scp/sftp) alex at digriz.org.uk
  • If possible allow the SYM (symbols) button on a blackberry to input to the console.
  • Add a way to import/export macros. We would like to create more complext macros on say a desktop and then be able to import them into the blackberry. Like you say above typing on a blackberry is tiresome! kwoodie at gmail dot com
  • When importing Sessions, add the ability to specify “Use Public Key” to the import file. After importing 29 sessions, it’s a pain to go thru all of them to change that setting.
  • Alternative ssh-port needed. Other than 22. Aleksic AT koelmel DOT de – try host:port in sessions, as suggested in FAQ
  • More font choices. (For example with Nokia E70, 5×9 is too small and 8×16 is too large. Need something in between)
  • While connecting, the Symbian operating system sometimes gives an error (”general system error” when the network is unreachable, or some other random errors). When this happens, MidpSSH could try connecting again or return to main menu instead of forcing the user to close the application altogether.
  • Allow customization of keybindings
  • Allow keybindings that work even if ‘type’ mode is enabled.
  • Better support for Devices with “only” 0-9 *# keyboards (i. E. how to exit Scroll mode if none of my 12 keys exit this mode?) webmaster at 20k dot de
  • Better support for Blackberry Storm (rotating screen, validating by tapping screen, right click by tapping screen
  • When in landscape mode, the “arrow pad”/joystick on the phone’s keyboard are not adjusted accordingly. That is, when moving the joystick to the left, MidpSSH registers it as a move upwards etc.
  • Utf-8 support would be nice (with an utf font like ie. terminus)
  • Start an SSH session with remote command (i.e. to access

SourceForge's shell service) * Include MCCP support
