Quoted from the guide put together by Selcouth.
I did this with my Motorola A630 on T-Mobile and everything works fine. I’m not sure if it works with other phones, but it can’t hurt [much] to give it a try as long as you backup your data. You are basically replacing some of your java files with those from a v600. Try searching around howardforums.com for more help if this does you no good.
As far as I know, this must be done in Windows. I used XP Pro. First you need a USB cable and P2Kman. http://x.selcouth.com/p2kman.zip
Get the phone all installed (lots of stuff will install when you plug it in.) (for more info on this go to howardforums.com)
Open up p2kman.exe
You will see your phone in the list on the left. Click Update List.
Expand to mobile > kjava
On the right you should see the files:
j2me0.jad
j2me0.jar
j2me0.pat
j2me0.rms
j2me_domain_registry.sm
J2MEPCK
J2MEPRA
J2MEPRC
J2MEST
srsfile
Very first thing you should do is copy those from Phone » PC and save that copy. If you mess something up you can just restore those.
After you have made a backup of those, get this: http://x.selcouth.com/v600.zip and upload those files into the kjava directory.
It’s been a while and the details are a bit fuzzy but as far as I remember that is all I did and it worked. If that DOESN’T work, try uploading all of your backup files except the domain_registry one. I seem to remember something about that one.
Please note I found these details here: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=555657
blkballoon925 states that:
“In P2kman, delete a file called “j2me_domain_registry.sm” then reboot your phone.”
scendent says:
I deleted all of my apps first (including the dumb games the phone came with) and then I only uploaded the j2me_domain_registry.sm, J2MEPRC, J2MEST, J2MEPRA files into the kjava folder. Restarted the phone and woohoo! Everything works great. I wonder if the only thing that needs to be replaced is the domain_registry? Maybe I will test that out later... The AIM client for tmobile does not appear to be stored in the java folder. So I tested it out and my AIM client is still working fine.
I am not sure if that works or not, but it may be as simple as just that one file.
Does this work on a Motorola v551 through a Bluetooth adapter?
